Mya Moe Wai1, Aye Su Han2, Moe Ommar Lwin3 GEOGRAPHICAL STUDY ON RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ROAD NETWORK ACCESSIBILITY AND RESIDENTIAL LAND VALUE IN SITTWAY CITY One of the important measurements of transportation network is accessibility and geographers think about accessibility as a location feature (Saxena,2005:67). In urban economic models, urban structure is explained as a function of employment. Residential land value, there are many factors that contribute to the value of a location: the characteristic of housing, environment, employment and other social economic opportunities. In today’s world economy, real estate determines the value of urban land in both urban planning and real estate industry. Although Sittway City is composed of 34 wards, 33 wards are used for analysis because Kissapa Ward, which established in 2021, the last extended ward was uninhabited. Connectivity Matrix, Shimbel Accessibility Matrix, (D-Matrix) and Total Accessibility (Matrix-T) have been used for understanding the magnitude of network accessibility in Sittwe City. In order to know land values, three hundred fourth two semi-structured interviews were conducted with estate agents and local residents and were collected according to randomized stratified sampling method. Pearson Correlation analysis are preformed to find the relationship between network accessibility, population density and land value. The road network accessibility higher, the higher the land value rather than population density. Therefore, in the study area, road network accessibility has a greater effect on land value than the settlement. This study refers to the future study is city planning, urban design and real estate. 2026
Tin Htun Aung1 THE STUDY OF THE SOURCES OF SPORT CONFIDENCE AMONG MYANMAR INTER-UNIVERSITY ATHLETES* Sport confidence is defined as the beliefs in individual’s capability to be successful in sport (Vealey, 1988). This study has been conducted in order to explore sources of self-confidence among university athletes and to determine if there are differences between demographic factors such as age, gender, competitive level of athletes and branches of sport on the sources of self confidence. A cross-sectional research design was used to examine the sources of sport confidence among randomly selected university athletes (n =200) from inter-university sport competition in Myanmar. Data were collected with the Sources of Sport Confidence Scale (SSCS) developed by Vealey (1988) adapting to Myanmar version Questionnaire, and the values converted into percentage of maximum possible scores. Among the highest rated sources of sport confidence were coaches’ leadership (M = 78.67±20.63), mastery (M = 75.05±22.05), physical and mental preparation (M = 74.63±20.21) and demonstration of ability (M = 73.40±21.00). Athletes differed significantly across gender in mastery (p = .02), coaches’ leadership, (p=.04), social support (p=.03), with females recording higher scores. Significant differences were observed among university players in their sources of sport confidence, specifically in physical self-presentation (p = .01), social support (p = .02), environmental comfort (p = .008), and situational favorableness (p = .006), as defined by the university. Mastery factor also yielded significant difference (p=.02) between zone level and non-zone level players. The university football players were lower than those who play in sepak takraw as demonstration factor and social support of self-confidence. However, in the environmental factors and situational favorableness of self-confidence university athletes who play in soccer are higher than those who play in sepak takraw. Findings of this study could practically provide for the selection and training process of university athletes in competition. 2026
Thiri Hlaing1, Kyaw Soe Hlaing2 THE EFFECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL KNOWLEDGE AND SOCIO DEMOGRAPHIC FACTORS ON PRO-ENVIRONMENTAL BEHAVIOR IN MANDALAY The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of environmental knowledge, and socio demographic factors on pro-environmental behavior in Mandalay, Myanmar. This study examined the effects of environmental knowledge and socio-demographic factors on pro-environmental behavior by surveying a sample of 280 (162 women and 118 men) respondents from Chanayetharzan, Chanmyatharsi, Aungmyaetharzan and Mahaaungmyae in Mandalay. As hypothesized, women’s engaging in private environmental behaviors was even significantly higher than that of men. Results indicated that older respondents engaged slightly more in public environmental behaviors but less in private environmental behavior. Moreover, environmental knowledge was significantly correlated with pro-environmental behavioral. 2026

Tin Zaw Hlaing1 A STUDY ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ADDICTION BEHAVIOR TO SMARTPHONES AND THE LONELINESS OF STUDENTS FROM EAST YANGON UNIVERSITY The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between addiction behavior towards smartphones and the loneliness of students studying at East Yangon University. The study was conducted using the correlational survey method. The study group comprised 216 students, 102 males (47.2%) and 114 females (52.8%). In the study, the smartphone addiction scale developed by the smartphone's functions (Kwon, Lee, Won, Park, Min, & Hahn, 2013) was used to investigate the smartphone addiction levels of the participants. The loneliness scale developed by Russell, Peplau, and Cutrona (1980) measured loneliness levels. According to the results of the study, there were no statistically significant differences between addiction behaviour toward smartphones and the loneliness of students according to males and females. On the other hand, there was a substantial difference between additional behaviour towards smartphones and loneliness according to the students' departments. Looking at the relationship between loneliness and smartphone addiction levels, it was concluded that there was a statistically significant positive correlation between all sub dimensions of smartphone addiction and smartphone addiction total score. 2026
Nu Lay Wai1, Dr. U Thaung Kyi2, Dr. Lin Lin Latt3 ADAPTATION OF THE MINNESOTA MULTIPHASIC PERSONALITY INVENTORY – 3 (YPI-23) (SHORT FORM) The purpose of this study is to adapt a personality inventory which was suitable for Myanmar culture in Myanmar language, and to explore personality traits of people who were living in Yangon, Myanmar. This research approach was a quantitative in the study. A total sample size of 512 participants who were living in Yangon was used in this study. Their age ranged from 18 years and above 60. The 22 subscales out of 52 subscales from Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory – 3 (MMPI-3) was used to assess the personality of participants in Yangon. There was total 181 items from 22 subscales. This test contained True/False response format. Factorial analysis of data, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient, test-retest reliability, descriptive and percentage methods was used with SPSS. According to the result of Pearson (r) value is over 0.70, 20 subscales of YPI-23, except THD and ASB, are acceptable indicating that there is a strong relationship between 2 variables and there is a positive relationship, meaning as one variable increases, the other tends to increase as well. Items with lower than 0.7 values are less acceptable meaning that there is not strong relationship between 2 variables and there is a negative relationship, meaning as one variable increases, the other tends to decrease. Nevertheless, as the result of factor analysis, all 181 items from 22 subscales involved in YPI-23 except these four items (EID-173, THD-14, NFC-48, and AGGR-18) were acceptable to measure personality. Therefore, YPI-23 scale had high reliability and validity. It can be used as an instrument in the Myanmar cultural setting. Moreover, cultures have very different attitudes toward mental health, societal expectations, and emotional expression. The MMPI-3 adaptation should take into account local standards about psychological well-being. The YPI-23 is a multi-step process that requires collaboration among Union Civil Service Board, Central Institude of Civil Service of Myanmar, Officer Testing Team, and Mental Health Hospital. 2026
Su Sandi Aung1 A STUDY ON VIETNAM’S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MODEL (1986-2021)* Vietnam, officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, is a country at the eastern edge of mainland Southeast Asia, with an area of 331,212 square kilometers (127,882 sq mi) and a population of over 100 million, making it the world's fifteenth most populous country. Vietnam shares land borders with China to the north, and Laos and Cambodia to the west. It shares maritime borders with Thailand through the Gulf of Thailand, and the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia through the South China Sea. Vietnam is considered wise based on its strategic location, natural resources, and sea outlet. And then, Vietnam built good relations even with the enemy countries, the US and China for the country's development. Vietnam has been a development success story. Economic reforms since the launch of Doi Moi in 1986, coupled with beneficial global trends, have helped propel Vietnam from being one of the world’s poorest nations to a middle-income economy in one generation. Between 2002 and 2021, GDP per capita increased 3.6 times, reaching almost US$3,700. Poverty rates declined from 14 in 2010 to 3.8 percent in 2020. This paper aims to analyze the Vietnam government’s actions to develop Vietnam and the progress of Vietnam. The qualitative research method is mainly used in this research and applies secondary and tertiary sources. This paper tries to examine what development strategies have helped Vietnam to gain remarkable achievements and to what extent Vietnam’s economic sectors have been developed. Finally, the research also considers that the role of the government in a country is very important to be able to success. If the government works to improve the country’s economic strength, the country is peaceful and stable and people are satisfied, even though it is a one-party system. 2026
Aye Thandar Tun1 MYANMAR-INDIA POLITICAL RELATIONS UNDER THE USDP GOVERNMENT Myanmar and India tried to cultivate friendly relations between them since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1948. With their common policy of peaceful co-existence and mutual cooperation, Myanmar and India tried to improve their relations from 2011 to 2015 by changing and adjusting their foreign policies. The aim of this research is to examine the bilateral relations between Myanmar and India from 2011 to 2015 focusing on political sector. Although the bilateral political relations became strained in late 1988 due to India's clear stand on the democracy movement in Myanmar, China’s growing influence in Myanmar and its Look East Policy pushed India to change its approach from that of confrontation to engagement with it. Myanmar's changing relationship with China offered India an opportunity to engage more constructively with Myanmar. Between 2011 and 2015, Myanmar and India saw a strengthening and broadening of their political ties, driven by a growing number of high-level state visits. The political relations between Myanmar and India were widely seen as landmark under the USDP government. 2026
Myo Thet Htun1 IMPACT OF ELECTORAL SYSTEM ON DEMOCRATIC PRACTICES:CASE STUDY OF INDONESIA An electoral system plays a crucial role in promoting democratic practices in a country. Its structure and functionality can contribute to advanced democratic practices. A well-organized electoral system fosters democratic practices, including inclusive political representation, the separation of powers and decentralization, citizen participation, freedom of expression and the press, and the peaceful transfer of power. This paper explores the impact of the electoral system on democratic practices in Indonesia. It also aims to provide a brief understanding of the PR system by focusing on the electoral system of Indonesia. Additionally, it seeks to help policymakers in multi-ethnic societies like Myanmar design and implement a more effective and appropriate electoral system to address political needs and promote democratic practices. To achieve these objectives, this paper seeks to answer the research question: “How does the electoral system impact democratic practices in Indonesia?” The study found that Indonesia's electoral system, which blends elements of proportional representation (PR) with direct presidential elections, promotes democratic practices by (1) fostering inclusive political representation, (2) empowering the separation of powers and decentralization, and (3) legitimizing government authority and ensuring the peaceful transfer of power. It employs qualitative and descriptive research methods, relying primarily on secondary sources. 2026
Chan Nyein Ko1 MYANMAR-THAILAND TRADE RELATIONS (2011-2020) Trade is one of the powerful pathways towards economic development for all countries. Growing bilateral trade increases the income levels of both countries, and then the countries become richer. Historically, Myanmar had a complicated relationship with neighbouring Thailand. With the democratization process of Myanmar, both countries have actively collaborated to promote bilateral trade. This study also intends to explore how trade relations between Myanmar and Thailand have contributed to normal trade and cross-border trade. It was conducted by a qualitative research method using both primary and secondary sources. The trade relationship contributed to economic prosperity by generating income, creating jobs, and fostering industrial development. It also became a source of border trade, migrant labour, natural gas, and some profitable Thailand investments in Myanmar. Thus, Myanmar-Thailand trade relations have resulted in a positive impact on the economic progress of both countries. 2026
